The Riverstone Agro Farms

The Riverstone Agro Farms was set up in 2006 with an objective to connect urban population to nature, agriculture and farm life. We aim to introduce travellers to sustainable organic practices and rural life, while offering a peaceful, serene, and comfortable holiday surrounded by nature.

Monsoons pose the perfect time to watch a flowing river along the boundary of the farm and waterfalls from the mountains. Winters are the ideal time for a trek to Matheran. And summer skies are perfect for star gazing and kite flying!

Our farm is not a conventional hotel or resort, it’s a destination where one can ‘experience’ nature. The name of the farm is inspired from round rubble stones that abounds in the river bed. These stones have been used extensively in the landscape of the farm.

The farm has gained vast experience in growing fruits and vegetables including the famed Taiwanese Papaya 786-Red Lady, Banana, Custard Apples as main crops over a period of time. Along with commercial farming, a large number of diverse native and medicinal plants have been carefully selected and planted over a period of time to make the farm a centre for extensive bio-diversity. These include Banawali Coconuts, Kesar, Amrapali, Hapus varieties of Mangoes, Chickoo, Amla, Indian Gooseberry, Jamun, jackfruit, Pomelo, Cinnamon, Cloves, Nutmeg, Cassia, Passion fruit etc. A number of ornamental plants like Fox Tail Palm, Travellers Palm, Taadgola & Betelnut have been carefully planted in the Farm.

The present Plantation crop at the farm is Soanchafa flower. There are 1200 plants of this fragrant and beautiful flower known by the botanical name Magnolia Champaca. The produce is harvested every morning and then sent to the Dadar wholesale market and local market in New Panvel region. The farm employs local tribals for plucking and maintaining the flower plantation. The Guests visiting the farm get to enjoy the fragrance of the Soanchafa flower during their visit. Guests can also join the farm staff in the early morning flower plucking & packing activity.
